Pearls
The ancient Greeks associate these bright gems with Aphrodite, to symbolize her charm. They believed that the goddess of love was born out of the sea completely naked, but with pearls around her neck. Greek mythology also suggested that pearls were the tears of gods, a concept that prevailed for thousands years.
The belief that pearls originated from solidified water drops, helped by the sun or moonlight, in Europe became the dominant thought of the origin of these gems, to which then supernatural and magical powers were conferred.
